The Story:
The road to qualify for the USA 1994 FIFA World Cup wasn't exactly straight forward for Brazil. It also didn't help that Romário was banned from the first team, until a shock loss to Bolivia sparked the nation to call for their Talisman.
Romário took his international team ban personally and ended Uruguay with a brace, sending Brazil to the World Cup. It's famously stated that "God sent Romário to the Maracanã". Romário & Brazil won the 1994 Fifa World Cup and he took home the award for the player of the tournament. Not a bad comeback if you ask us.
