The story of VfL Bochum and Faber is up there with one of the craziest ordeals between a club and sponsor to date. To cut a long story short, Bochum, unhappy with their current manufacturer Reebok, wanted a new supplier and kit. Enter stage left, Faber gambling services...
Faber quite controversially took it upon themselves to design and manufacture VfL Bochum's 97/99 kits. Incredibly bright and probably uncomfortable (with the huge embroidered Faber logo mid-chest), they technically did increase Bochum's awareness. Unfortunately for Bochum and Faber, the party stopped thereafter an average 97/98 season and relegation the next.
