The Story:
After qualifying for their first-ever Fifa World Cup, the Samurai Blue took to the world stage in one of the best international kits to date. With a wicked set of flames running up and down the shirt and two huge white flames on the arms, Japan debut will never be forgotten.
Despite being knocked out in the group stage, it was an important world cup for Japan as it really took the game to the next level for them. After Nakayama scored their first-ever World Cup goal, Japan fell in love with the big stage.
With players like Hidetoshi Nakata, Shinji Ono, and Shoji Jo, their momentum was never slowing down. In fact, they even hosted the 2002 Fifa World Cup with South Korea.
