Japan opened their World Cup fixtures with a tough game against Colombia, followed by the intriguing fixtures against Senegal and Poland.
With a squad filled to the brim with experienced players like Keisuke Honda, Eiji Kawashima, Makoto Hasebe & Yuto Nagatomo, Japan would be disappointed not to progress past the group stages. Luckily they finished second in their group, but after a valiant Round of 16 effort against Belguim, the Blue Samurai couldn't hold on for the full 90.
